Missing a tooth? Did a tooth break, is loose or is decayed beyond repair? Tooth replacement with dental implants is an ideal solution. Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. Eat the foods that you enjoy. Smile with confidence.
Dental implants are titanium posts placed where teeth are missing. These titanium posts act as tooth root substitutes. Once healed, dental implants provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.
Drs. Moore and Wong are surgical specialists with expertise in placing dental implants. In many cases, your tooth can be removed and replaced with a dental implant in a single procedure. You also have the option of having a temporary tooth placed on the dental implant at the same time for immediate use. Your permanent tooth will be ready to be placed after as few as three to four months of healing. In this way, you will have fewer procedures and be without a tooth for as short a period as possible.
Dental implant placement is a team effort between a surgeon and a restorative dentist. Drs. Moore and Wong perform the implant surgery and the restorative dentist fits the permanent tooth. This is often your dentist. If you do not have a dentist, then a restorative dentist can be recommended.

At Newmarket Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Drs. Moore and Wong have access to the latest technologies. Your dental implant procedure will be planned carefully often with a three dimensional scan taken in-office (cone beam computed tomography or CT scan). In complex situations, a computer generated surgical guide can also be used.
Dental implant procedures are often performed under local anesthesia. However, if you are anxious or require a surgically complex procedure, then to put you at ease and in absolute comfort, procedures can be performed completely asleep.
There are rare situations where dental implants cannot be placed. Drs. Moore and Wong have extensive surgical training to handle the most medically and/or surgically complex situations. If you have been told that you may not be a candidate for dental implants, we may have a solution for you. Book a consultation today.
Dental Implants Presentation
To provide you with a better understanding of dental implants, we have provided the following multimedia presentation. Many common questions pertaining to dental implants are discussed.
Why Choose Dental Implants Over Other Tooth Replacement Options?
- Improved comfort – Dental implants are secured directly to your jawbone. Removing a denture at night to rest the gums, is inconvenient, not to mention that dentures that slip can be uncomfortable and embarrassing.
- Improved oral health – Bridges requires that adjacent teeth be shaved down. This damage to otherwise healthy teeth is irreversible.
- Jawbone preservation – Dental implants act like tooth roots and help preserve facial structure, preventing bone deterioration that occurs with other tooth replacement options where teeth are missing.
